A couple of Tooting property owners have overcome the hardship of being made redundant by taking a slightly more creative look at life and making sure that they overcome all obstacles thrown at them by the global recession. Going from being involved in architecture to making jewelry out of books was a rather far out and optimistic idea for this couple that owns a property in Tooting, but they've managed to make it work for them.

Jeremy May and Eva Chloe Vazaka met at the Royal College of Art in London years ago and built their relationship until they got married in 2006. Life for these tooting property owners was going well until they were both made redundant from their architectural careers in November 2008. This was a massive shock to the system for these two victims of the global recession, and as jobs within the industry were scarce, they were forced to think out of the box when it came to gaining a sustainable income. Thoughts of calling an estate agent Tooting and putting their property in Tooting up for sale crossed their minds, but they were determined to make the most of this situation.

Mr. May whose Tooting property is in Moring Road, said: "Being made redundant was mind-blowing. One minute you're busy with projects, and the next you're at home watching daytime TV."

Watercolor – Mixing Colors

March 5th, 2010 Arts And Crafts No comments

When applying watercolor though, an important thing to remember is that the color will tend to be lighter when the color dries. If you want stronger color, you can make adjustments by applying slightly stronger hues before application or you can dab some more color to the object when the paint is already dry.

Creating test sheets

Before attempting to mix watercolor pigments, it is advisable to test out the colors first on a clean paper to get a good grasp on how it behaves and the color when it dries. Paint on a damp paper the colors that you will use. Maintain a uniform brush stroke starting with the lightest color to the stronger ones. Label the color and maintain a clean brush while doing the strokes. When the paints are dried compare it to the colors in your color well to judge how the final outcome of the colors will be.

Mixing a Puddle of Color

To start your puddle, wet the brush in clean water. This opens up all the hairs in the brush up to the ferrule. At this point, your brush would likely be fully loaded with water, if so, remove excess water by thumping the brush a few times or run the brush across the rim of the mixing well.

These things and more can be learned by anyone and put to use to draw some cool looking cars.

There are some pretty good books out there to help you learn the basics and you can find other books that will give you some shortcuts and techniques used by the pros.

All you need is a set of drawing pencils in different hardness's which you can pick up in an arts and craft store. Drawing paper is a matter of choice among artists. You can find paper with different textures from smooth to a little rough and you will find you like one over the other.
